Woman missing after trip toCharleston

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is searching for a Bluffton woman reported missing after failing to return from a trip to Charleston.

Alexis Lukaitis, 27,was reported missing Monday by her fiancé, Michael Bartley, 32, after she didn't return home from what was expected to be a brief visit to Charleston, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Bartley told deputies that Lukaitis had left to take a friend to Charleston about 3 p.m. Sunday. About 7:45 p.m.Bartley spoke to Lukaitis by phone and that she told him she'd be home in about an hour.

At 9 a.m. Monday, Lukaitis had yet to return and repeated attempts to reach her by phone went unanswered. Bartley contacted the Sheriff's Office to report her missing.

Lukaitis is a white, about 5-foot-2, 105 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a butterfly tattoo on her lower back and a moon tattoo on her right hip. She was last seen driving a white 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix with SC license plate FNY-718.
