The experience Jim Ferguson described as "humbling" ended Friday, as the 56-year-old Hilton Head Island resident carded an 18-over-par 88 and missed the cut after the second round of the U.S. Senior Open Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.

Ferguson did make a minor improvement from his first round, shaving two shots off his score. He hit four fairways Friday -- one more than in the first round -- but hit only three greens in regulation.

He made his lone birdie of the day on the par-5 No. 2 -- his 11th hole of the round -- and made three pars to go with 10 bogeys, three double bogeys and one triple bogey.
