Sand masterpieces compete for titles

The third annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Hunting Island State Park is from 1 to 4 p.m. today on the beach in front of the lighthouse. Participants are invited to enter as individuals or teams.

An awards presentation is at 3:30 p.m. Live music will be offered by the Heritage Steel Band.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including Sand Fleas (up to 8 years old, must have an adult as a leader); Sand Hoppers (ages 9-15); Sand Tribes (families); Sand Shapers (individual adults or team of adults); and Sand Fantasies (families with children age 7 and younger).
