A 34-year-old Hilton Head Island man was found wandering Coligny Beach on Tuesday morning wearing a white trash bag after someone apparently stole his pants, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies received several reports of a suspicious person on the Hilton Head Island beach at about 6:45 a.m. The deputies found him wearing a blue T-shirt and a trash bag.

The man said he had taken off his clothes to swim at about 2 a.m., and when he returned, his pants were gone, according to a sheriff's report. He claimed a group of men stole them, but he could not describe them, the report said.

He was charged with public disorderly conduct.
