Hilton Head High's golf season ended on a controversial note in the Class 3-A state meet at Quail Creek Golf Club in Conway. The Seahawks finished in fourth place on Tuesday but feel they should have finished higher.

Jeff Homad's score of 76 on Monday, the first round of the two-day tournament, did not count after Homad was disqualified for undisclosed reasons. Hilton Head High coach Rawn Grant is challenging the ruling and has filed a grievance with the South Carolina High School League, according to assistant coach Karen Williams.

For now though, the Seahawks officially finished fourth.

A.C. Flora won the tournament with a score of 590. St. James and South Aiken tied for second with scores of 602.

Trent Hoisington led the Seahawks with a 144, the third-best score in the tournament. Tate Hoisington checked in with a 151 and Tyler Williams had a 155. Hilton Head High also used Phillip North's score of 81 on Monday and Homad's score of 74 on Tuesday.

Bluffton finished in seventh place with a score of 628.

Wesley Long led the Bobcats with a 152, followed by Coley Davis at 153, Kenny Kovcas at 158, Matt Leiti at 165 and Shawn Fox at 171.
