Lowcountry joins national Realtor Open House event

March 29, 2010

Realtors’ associations on Hilton Head Island and in Beaufort will participate in the first Realtor Nationwide Open House Weekend from April 10-11. This nationwide campaign is meant to increase consumer awareness of the benefits of buying a home and give sellers an opportunity to increase exposure.

This is part of a continued effort to spread the word about the expanded federal homebuyer tax credit, which ends April 30. It’s also an incredible opportunity for sellers to showcase their homes and for potential home-buyers to shop for new homes while interest rates still are low.

To use the expanded Federal Housing Tax Credit, the sales contract for a home purchase has to be in place by April 30. Restrictions on the tax credit do exist, but a Realtor can explain who qualifies for the tax credit.

Low prices for resales and new homes, plus a large inventory, make now a great time to buy. Eventually, home prices and interest rates will climb, inventory will become more scarce and the tax credit will be gone.

The Realtor Nationwide Open House Weekend is a collaborative effort sponsored by Realtor associations around the country.
