I call, I e-mail and I write letters to my senators and my congressman telling them that I am in favor of reform that includes the public option, but because they are all Republicans, they are obviously not listening. They truly hear only what they want to hear, from whom they want to hear it. However, they are bound to represent their constituency, and that includes me.
My husband and I are choking on our health insurance costs. The premiums are unbelievable, as are the many costs they do not cover. I'm sure there are many people who cannot afford the exorbitant premiums. Yet we know some people who pay little or nothing and have far better coverage. It makes sense to me that if all Americans paid their fair share of the costs, then all Americans could be covered.
What kind of country are we anyway? Is there one America or two -- one for the "haves" and one for the "have-nots"?
