Paddlefest set for Sunday on Hilton Head

Outside Hilton Head will hold the 22nd annual Spring Paddlefest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday on Broad Creek at the Old Oyster Factory restaurant on Hilton Head Island.

The event is a celebration of kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding and features introductory clinics and instruction, free equipment trials and demonstrations.

Community yard sale Saturday

The Island Packet will host the "World's Largest Yard Sale" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hilton Head Island High School parking lot, 70 Wilborn Road.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Traffic will flow counter-clockwise around the high school during the sale.

Proceeds benefit the United Way of the Lowcountry.

Virtual charter school to recruit in Beaufort

Teachers, students and staff of Palmetto State E-Cademy will be in Beaufort on Tuesday to discuss the school's academic program. An information session will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Technical College of the Lowcountry's Beaufort campus in building 10.

Palmetto State E-Cademy is a state-funded, virtual high school in the South Carolina Public Charter School District. Students take their classes from home and complete their work on their own schedule.
