The parade starts at the parking lot at 102 Pope Ave. near Coligny Circle and ends at Park Plaza, 33 Office Park Drive.
Here are some things to remember:
• Pope Avenue will be closed beginning at about 1:30 p.m.
• Parking will not be allowed on the parade route. Drivers should avoid nonessential travel in the area until after 5 p.m.
• To discourage children from running into the road, parade participants are prohibited from throwing candy from the floats.
• Beer and wine may be consumed in designated outdoor areas, though liquor will be allowed only inside bars and restaurants.
• A $3 wristband is required to drink in bars and restaurants along Pope Avenue. Revenue from wristband sales will help pay for parade expenses. Some bars will give away wristbands.
• Increased law enforcement will be in place, and citations will be issued for alcohol and other violations, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Organizers said they expect this year's parade to be among the biggest ever, with more than 100 entries, 12 commercial floats, the Parris Island Marine Band and members of the 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart.
Among the more than 100 participants are:
• The Humane Society and its orphan dogs.
• Heroes on Horseback.
• Irish step dancers.
• Musical acts, including Cross the Bridge Band, Silicone Sister and bands from Beaufort, Hilton Head and Bluffton high schools.
• Town officials and dignitaries, including the grand marshal, Charles Perry, a founder of the Island Recreation Center.
Parade watchers are encouraged to complete a survey available along the route to be eligible for a free stay in Palmetto Dunes. More information is available at www.stpatricksdayhhi.com or by calling parade chairman Kim Capin at 843-384-4035 or chairman Rocky O'Sheill at 843-304-4956.
