VARSITY BASEBALL
Abundant Life 22, Frederica Academy 7 (3 inn.): J.T. Robinson blasted a grand slam in the second inning, setting the tone for Abundant Life in a big win over Frederica Academy.
John Herrington was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, Caleb Smith was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Cam Thomas was 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs and Hudson Farmer was 2 for 3 with four RBIs.
Smith was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits over three innings.
Abundant Life (5-1) will play Oconee in the first round of Hardeeville's Lowcountry Invitational at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Northwood Academy 6, Hilton Head Christian 0: Northwood Academy pitcher Will Walls went all seven innings, allowing three hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Ty Powell led the Chargers at the plate, batting 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Chris Cook also had a big day, batting 2 for 3.
Wesley Cooler, Weston Butler and Luke Sirgo had HHCA's three hits.
Christopher Linsday was charged with the loss.
Hilton Head Christian (2-2, 0-1) will host Virginia's Christ Church School at 3:30 p.m. today.
VARSITY SOFTBALL
Battery Creek 15,Wade Hampton 4 (5 inn.): Alexia Cortez went 4 for 4 with two home runs, one out of the park, leading Battery Creek to a big win over Wade Hampton.
Paige Holiday was also 4 for 4. Erika Taylor and Michaela Johnson were both 3 for 4 and Tina Kwok was 2 for 3. Theresa Bishop, Skyland Bodkins and Lisa Miller were all 2 for 4. Miller also had two RBIs.
Nikki Taylor was the winning pitcher, allowing one walk with seven strikeouts over five innings.
Battery Creek (1-1) will host Charleston Math and Science at 6 p.m. today.
Thomas Heyward 5, Dorchester Academy 0: Ashlie Layman recorded 14 strikeouts, leading Thomas Heyward to victory.
At the plate, freshman Chandler Cook was 2-for-3 with a home run over the fence. Brianna Kelnhofer was also 2-for-3.
Brielle Jungblut, Layman, Taylor Ernestine and Caitlyn Cooler also had hits.
Thomas Heyward (4-2) will host Ashley Hall at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
VARSITY BOYS SOCCER
Hilton Head High 3, Hilton Head Christian 2: Leslie Layne scored two goals and Julio Moreno added another as the Seahawks won their season-opening match.
Will McCarty contributed an assist and keeper Brian Ludewig made five saves. HHCA's goals were scored by Bennett Murphy and Peter Savarese. Keeper Mike Ritterbeck made six saves.
The Eagles (2-3) will travel to Porter-Gaud for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday. Hilton Head High (1-0) will host Irmo at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Battery Creek 4, Goose Creek 3: Oscar Tierrablanca scored two goals to lead Battery Creek to victory. Other goals came from Isai Alvarez and Christopher Hernandez.
Keepers Josh Holliday made six saves and Zack Benkie finished with four.
Battery Creek (1-0) will host Colleton County on Thursday at the football field at Burton Wells. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys at 7 p.m.

Bluffton 7, Beaufort Academy 0: Bluffton swept Beaufort Academy in its tennis opener, winning five singles matches and two doubles matches. The Bobcats will host Hilton Head Prep at 3:30 p.m. today.

VARSITY GOLF
SCISAA Region 3-AAA meet: Hilton Head Prep's golf team took third place and HiltonHead Christian came in fourth in the five-team region meet at Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton.
Porter-Gaud won the meet with a team score of 139, followed by Pinewood Prep at 114, HHP at 152, HHCA at 155 and Northwood Academy at 177.
For Hilton Head Prep, George Hirsch, Tim Godshalk, Kyle Eichelbacher and Charlie Spencer-White each scored a 38. Jason Fick checked in with a 40.
J.D. Lehman led HHCA with a 37 followed by Zach Reynolds at 38, Bryson Nimmer at 40, Mike Nadal at 40 and Kyle Weaver at 43.
Hilton Head Christian will travel to Pinewood Prep for a 3 p.m. match next Tuesday.
