Then both Democrats and Republicans quickly crucified Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky when he attempted to use the only forum open to him to assure that a bill was not voted on until it was funded. The American people deserve legislators who do not arbitrarily spend our money and do not continue to put us in debt.
Shame on the majority party. The Democrats and President Barack Obama are threatening to use a simple majority vote to pass a health care reform bill. The American people do not want health care in the form now proposed. The American people have spoken out against government control of health care in polls, at town hall meetings, in elections in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts, on billboards and in letters to the editor. The American people want health care reform but not at the expense of increased debt and loss of control of our personal health care.
Shame on the minority party. The Republicans and independents must also listen to the American people and propose solutions that meet our needs. This is an important issue, not a political football to be used to score a touchdown in November.
Shame on the American people if we do not speak out. Somehow, our legislators and president have forgotten to or have decided not to listen to the American people. Make sure they hear your message.
