Rain garden expert David Joyner will visit the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island at 10 a.m. March 20 to teach the art of planting rain gardens.

Rain gardens are landscaped depressions, channels or stormwater runoff containment areas that filter pollutants from stormwater. Joyner, of the Clemson University Extension Program, and members of the Leadership Hilton Head-Bluffton Class of 2010 will plant a rain garden at Honey Horn. The class also will help residents and local businesses build their own rain gardens.
