Author and Columbia University professor Andrew Delbanco will speak at 7:15 p.m. March 24 at the University of South Carolina Beaufort and address the question, "What is College for?"

Delbanco will speak in the Heritage Classic Foundation classroom on the Bluffton campus. The event is free and open to the public as part of the university's 50th anniversary celebration.

Delbanco's essays have appeared in The New York Review of Books, The New Republic, Raritan and other publications, according to a news release. Time magazine has named him "America's Best Social Critic."
