Social critic to speak at USCB

Author and Columbia University professor Andrew Delbanco will speak at 7:15 p.m. March 24 at the University of South Carolina Beaufort to answer "What is College for?"

Delbanco will speak in the Heritage Classic Foundation classroom on the Bluffton campus. The free event is open to the public and part of the university's yearlong 50th anniversary celebration.

Delbanco's essays appear regularly in The New York Review of Books, The New Republic, Raritan and other publications, according to a news release. Time magazine has named him "America's Best Social Critic."
