Led by co-medalist Lee Bedford, Wake Forest rallied from four strokes down to win the fifth annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate golf tournament on Tuesday on Hilton Head Island.

Bedford carded a 2-under-par 70 to finish the two-day tournament with a score of 142, sharing co-medalist honors with Davidson's Jackson Taylor.

The Demon Deacons finished with a team score of 583, beating host school and first-round leader Francis Marion by one stroke.

"I'm just very happy with the guys' performance," Francis Marion coach Mark Gaynor said. "It was a great ending. Wake Forest played great today and was very deserving of the championship."

Davidson came in third place in the 17-team tournament with a 589, followed by Wofford at 592 and William & Mary at 549.

Individually, Francis Marion's Christopher Couch, Wofford's Mark Joye and DePaul's Ben Westley all tied for third place at 143.

"The members and staff of Wexford Plantation run a first-class tournament," Gaynor said. "They really roll out the red carpet."
