Penn Center hosts Robert Smalls exhibit

The Penn Center's "Congressman Robert Smalls: A Patriot's Journey from Slavery to Capitol Hill" exhibit at the York W. Bailey Museum will be featured through March 5 as part of Black History Month. There also will be a series of films this month at the museum. Guests are invited to tour the exhibit on the history of the Penn School, one of the first opened for formerly enslaved Gullah people, founded on St. Helena Island in 1862. Films include "Family Across the Sea," "Penn Center: A Legacy of Change," "The Language You Cry In" and "Congressman Robert Smalls."
