A Hilton Head Island man and two Bluffton men were charged in connection with the theft of more than $5,000 worth of electronics and jewelry early Sunday from a home on Gardner Lane, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

The Hilton Head man also was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in an unrelated case, the police said.

Cesar Alexis Sanchez, 17, of Hilton Head; Nelson Francisco Herrera, 17, and Luis Torres Zapata, 17, both of Bluffton, are in the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing on charges of first-degree burglary, according to the jail log.

Sanchez also is accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl on Jan. 17, according to a news release.

After Sunday's the break-in, the resident told police she discovered a sliding glass door had been pried open with a screwdriver and that several computers, cameras, a flat-screen TV and jewelry were missing, a news release said.

The release said all stolen items were returned to the resident.
