Coastal Carolina offers $20 heart screenings

Coastal Carolina Hospital will host Heart Health Screenings from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday in the main lobby of the hospital.

The screenings measure cholesterol, glucose (blood sugar), blood pressure and body mass index. Participants receive a written assessment and health counseling on their risk level. Overnight fasting is recommended.

The screening costs $20. In addition, lung function breathing tests will be available during the same time. This test, which costs $10, evaluates how well your lungs work, measuring how quickly and effectively you can move air out of your lungs. Appointments are recommended for both tests.
