Wilson kicks off 2010 campaign in Bluffton and West Columbia

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson will kick off his 2010 campaign with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for his campaign headquarters at noon Monday at noon in Bluffton and at 5 p.m. in West Columbia.

Wilson, a Republican whose congressional district includes Beaufort County, will outline his future goals.

Those interested in attending can visit the Lowcountry office, located at 1 Promenade Street in the Calhoun Street Promenade in Bluffton or the Midlands office, located at 131 State Street in West Columbia.

Army officer to discuss book at USCB

John Fenzel, a senior Army Special Forces officer, will give a lecture at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at the University of South Carolina Beaufort's Bluffton campus.

Fenzel will discuss his career and recently released book, "The Lazarus Covenant."

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is sponsoring this free lecture for its members and will open reservations to the public Friday.

Richardson to speak to Hilton Head Kiwanis

Scott Richardson, a former state senator, will be the speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head's meeting from 8 to 9 a.m. Feb. 16.

Richardson is the director of insurance for the state of South Carolina.

Kiwanis meets at the Golf Club at Indigo Run. Those interested in attending should ask for a guest pass at the gate.

AARP driving course Feb. 27

An AARP Driver Safety Program course will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 27 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island.

Participants who complete the course may receive a discount on their automobile liability insurance premium.
