Couple posing as house-cleaners assault Bluffton man

January 20, 2010

Deputies are looking for a couple accused of attacking a man grilling outside his friend's house in Bluffton on Friday night, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report released Wednesday and a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The victim, a 35-year-old Ridgeland man, had minor injuries.

The suspects, described as a white woman and a black man, drove a white sedan into the driveway of the Burberry Lane home just before 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the report and Cpl. Robin McIntosh.

The woman approached the victim and offered house-cleaning services, McIntosh said.

While she was talking, the second suspect attacked the victim from behind, McIntosh said.

Both suspects then got back into the car and drove away, she said. They got no money from the victim, she said. They face charges of attempted strong armed robbery and assault and battery.
