Bluffton's Chandler Vilcheck opened the 2010 Hurricane Junior Golf Tour season with a bang, winning the boys 16-19 division of the HJGT Winter Championship over the weekend in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.
Vilcheck fired a 77 in the first round and a 73 in the second for a 6-over 150.
Jacksonville's August Jonas finished three strokes behind for second place. Hilton Head Island's Daniel Bruneau tied for 14th place with a 167.
Bluffton's Sammie Buchanan played in the girls 15-19 division but did not finish.
Dataw promotes Murdaugh
Dataw Island Club has promoted Lori Murdaugh to the position of assistant general manager. In addition to assisting general manager Ted Bartlett in the management and care of the Dataw Island Club, the owner's association programs and club facilities, Murdaugh will continue in her role as the controller of Dataw Island Owner's Association and the Dataw Island Club.
The Beaufort native began her Dataw career 26 years ago.
Discount Heritage badge sale ends Jan. 31

Merchandise show coming to Myrtle Beach
The 17th annual Carolinas PGA Merchandise Show will take place Feb. 22 and 23 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach. Show hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.
The show will feature 230 booths representing more than 300 product lines.
