Man shot to death in Ridgeland after pool parlor argument, officials say
A 54-year-old Ridgeland man was shot and killed early Friday after an apparent fight over a pool game at a billiards parlor near Ridgeland, Jasper County officials said Friday night.
The alleged shooter, 21-year-old Brett Howard of Ridgeland, was arrested about 8 a.m. Friday and charged with homicide. He is in custody at the Jasper County Detention Center, Chief Deputy Roy Hughes of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office said.
The victim, Woodrow Brantley, was pronounced dead at the scene, Hughes said.
The incident took place just after midnight at Missy's Lounge on Rice Shire Road, just outside the Ridgeland city limits, Hughes said.
Howard was arrested around 8 a.m. Friday, and faces a charge of homicide, Hughes said.
Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III said a fight over a game of pool preceded the shooting.
