Meanwhile, recovery is the mantra for the Bobcats, who dropped their first game of the season to Ridgeland this past weekend.
Top scorer and rebounder Amanda Thompson will be depended upon to slow the Eagles' (4-1) strong post presence, which features 6-foot-1 Deja Jackson and 5-foot-10 Rebecca Tkach. Blake Banner has also emerged as a scoring threat for Beaufort High, which will test the Bobcats' (1-1) perimeter prowess with a mix of man-to-man and zone defensive sets.
In the boys contest, Beaufort High (2-3) also hopes to prolong its winning ways after downing Allendale-Fairfax on Saturday and, in turn, avenging an early-season defeat while snapping a three-game losing streak. The Eagles, who lost four starters from a year ago, are still searching for the right formula among their plethora of weapons, but have found production from the likes of Jordan Adderly, Simeon Daise and Lorenzo Moore thus far.
Wins continue to come few and far between for Bluffton, which has lost 15 of its last 16 games dating back to last season. Team speed allows the Bobcats (0-2) to excel in the transition game, but a lack of size in the paint minimizes their second-chance opportunities and could be a point of concern in tonight's contest.
