Bruton, McCardell wed
Mr. and Mrs. John Malcolm McCardell, III were married November 21, 2009, at six o’clock in the evening.
The marriage is announced by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Calvin Bruton, Jr. Mrs. McCardell, the former Margaret McKissick Bruton, is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Bratton Davis and the late Judge Davis and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Calvin Bruton, all of Columbia. The bride is a graduate of Dreher High School, received a B.A. degree in Art History from Wofford College and is employed at Non(e)Such, Ltd.
Mr. McCardell is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Malcolm McCardell Jr. of Middlebury, Vt., and Beaufort. He is the grandson of Mr. Lee Katz Greenwald and the late Mrs. Greenwald of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. John Malcolm McCardell and the late Mr. McCardell of Hagerstown, Md. The bridegroom is a graduate of The Taft School, Watertown, Conn., and received a BA degree from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. He is a member of Ellison Kibler and Associates at Merrill Lynch in Columbia.
The bride wore her great-great-grandmother’s Brussells lace veil and was given in marriage by her father.
Laura Dana Theus served as the bride’s maid of honor. Other attendants were Kathryn Rose Brennan, Meredith Anne Jones, Mary Catherine Norman, Susan Erin Quinn, Anna Heriot Sims, Meredith Williams Wilkes and Ann Paisley Snowden Chandler. The flower girl was Phoebe Susan Bergan, cousin of the bride.
John Malcolm McCardell Jr. served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother, James Benjamin Lee McCardell, the bride’s brother, John Calvin Bruton III, Price Headly Bell, Jr., James Marshall Haggard Jr., James Anson Edwards and Andrew Ford Goodwin. Walker Fisk Pitts, the bride’s cousin, was the ring bearer.
The traditional service of consent at St. John’s Episcopal Church was conducted by the Very Rev. Dr. Philip Conrad Linder. Also participating in the service were Mary Winn Heider, cousin of the bride, and Gabrielle Noren Linder,.
Crucifer and acolyte for the ceremony was Lockehart Mays Williamson. Catherine Hannah Lesser and Virginia Boykin Roach greeted the guests at the church.
Music was provided by Canon Organist and Choirmaster Dr. Jared Johnson of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Ushers were the brides uncles, Sherwood McKissick Cleveland and William Choice Cleveland III, and the grooms godfather, Dr. Walter Bellingrath Edgar.
Following the service, a reception was held at Woodcreek Farms.
After a wedding trip to Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands, Mr. and Mrs. McCardell will reside in Columbia.
