Town and county officials are doing a disservice to us by accepting such lack of progress. I see nothing to be gained by inventorying what we know we already have.
Furthermore, those officials should establish objectives for the consultants to assess. We should firmly state what course of action we want -- leave the airport as is or accommodate regional jets. Those two options seem key, but if the consultants can propose other acceptable options, they should be welcomed by the officials.
The consultants should define what steps are required to meet aircraft needs -- for the officially defined objectives -- as well as federal requirements and environmental desires, including their relative costs.
Let's set those objectives and not just pour money down the drain.
