For the fourth year, Roz Dixon of Beaufort will prepare her favorite stuffing to be served alongside turkey and all the traditional holiday foods cooked up by volunteers and served on china at The Parish Church of St. Helena (Episcopal) in Beaufort.
"Stuffing is my specialty," said Dixon, who is co-chairwoman of the meal with Karen Kusko. "I don't like plain stuffing. I like chopped celery, onions, apples, lots of chicken broth and butter. This is not a low-calorie dressing, but it is not dry."
This is the 30th year of the meal. The church expects to serve more than 1,750 people from all walks of life -- from people who live on boats at the marina to those who cannot afford to buy the ingredients or cook for themselves.
All are invited. Those who are unable to attend are asked to call to request a delivered meal by Tuesday. However, meals can be delivered up to the day of the event. Community organizations are invited to call for applications for delivered meals.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. in the church.
