A 26-year-old Bluffton man was in stable condition at Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center on Thursday after being ejected from his van earlier this week during a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Palmetto Bay and Archer roads on Hilton Head Island.

Jared Hall was driving a Ford van east on Palmetto Bay Road about 4:45 p.m. Monday when he rear-ended a Mercury driven by John Cameron, 64, of Scottsville, N.Y, said S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bob Beres. The crash caused Hall's van to veer into the westbound lanes, Beres said.

Hall's van ran over the curb and slammed into a tree. Police could not determine if he was wearing a seat belt. The other driver was not injured.

Hall was flown by a LifeStar air ambulance to Savannah. The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
