U.S. 278 on Hilton Head Island is the main thoroughfare for our 35,000 residents, service and commercial vehicles and 2 million vacationers who are not familiar with our roads and locations. The vast majority of residents and vacationers use courtesy and place their own personal safety and that of others first and travel on our well-designed bike paths.
I guess in a "perfect" world, everyone would travel on the highway because they can, instead of using common sense and exercising some politeness. Wouldn't that be a real plus, especially during the holidays and summer?
Maybe the Palmetto Cycling Coalition could get all the joggers included in their ranks so they can have the same rights, and we can place more people at risk.
