A man working with a landscape spraying device was bruised on his back when he was pushed to the ground during an attempted strong-arm robbery Friday at a Bluffton apartment complex, according to a Beaufort County sheriff's report released Tuesday.

The man told authorities he was working near a building in the Bluffton House Apartments complex and talking on a cell phone about 11:30 a.m. when he was approached by an unknown man with shoulder-length dreadlocks who demanded the phone.

When the victim refused, the man pushed him to the ground, causing him to fall on top of the sprayer.

The suspect then ran off.

A 73-year-old Bluffton woman alerted authorities after she opened Medicare bills for more than $2,500 worth of treatment, including a "semen exam," according to a Beaufort County sheriff report released Tuesday.

The bills showed that the Sun City Hilton Head resident owed $1,745 for treatment in Louisiana and almost $785 for treatment in California. She said she was not in either of those states when the treatment was rendered and is disputing the claims.

The woman said she had another fraudulent Medicare claim investigated more than a year ago.

She is not being required to pay any money until the latest claim is settled, according to the report.
