Wreck victim on Hilton Head Island airlifted

A person was flown by helicopter to a hospital after a one-vehicle wreck Monday on Hilton Head Island, said Joheida Fister, a spokeswoman for the Hilton Head Island Fire & Rescue Division.

The person was thrown from the vehicle at 32 Palmetto Bay Road about 5 p.m., Fister said.

Fister did not identify the person, citing medical privacy law.

S.C. Highway Patrol officials could not be reached Tuesday.
