Hilton Head Subway restaurant robbed

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who used a handgun to rob a Subway restaurant on Hilton Head Island on Friday night.

Deputies were called to the restaurant on 437 William Hilton Parkway at about 8:45 p.m.

A worker said the man ordered a sandwich, asked where the bathroom was and stepped out of view. While she was completing the order, he approached her behind the counter.

He presented a handgun and ordered her to get the money from the register and safe. She handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. He ordered her to get on the ground, and he ran off in an unknown direction. The employee was unharmed, and no customers were present.

The robber was described as a black man between 25 and 35 years old, about 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, with a thin "chin-strap" goatee and mustache, wearing a black or dark-blue hooded jacket, blue jeans, a white baseball cap and brown shoes.

Anyone with information should contact the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 842-524-2777.

Young arrived at his Billy Hill Road home just before midnight and discovered two masked intruders inside, according to a sheriff news release Monday.
