The Department of Labor has been reporting laborstatistics for a number of years. Its current monthly report, "Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey," shows 4 million hires and 4.3 million job losses. The net effect is a loss of several hundred thousand jobs and an increase in the unemployment rate to 9.8 percent. The stimulus reporting ignores job losses and only tells one side of the story.
