Here's how to get help if Christmas is beyond your reach

Operation Holiday Heroes is gearing up to help with toys and food for Beaufort County residents in need during the Christmas holidays.

Here's how to request help:

• Family Independence program recipients should call their caseworker. If you live on Hilton Head Island, contact Deep Well at 342-6216 .

• The Salvation Army will conduct registration for northern Beaufort County residents from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday next weekat 2505 North St. in Beaufort. Details on information to bring: call 843-524-3727

• Bluffton Self Help will register Bluffton residents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on these Saturdays: today , Nov. 14, 21, 28, and Dec. 12; and from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at 1264 May River Road . Details on information to bring: call 843-757-8000. The Salvation Army's Bluffton registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Bluffton Community Center at 141 Goethe Road.

• Deep Well will register Hilton Head Island residents from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following Saturdays: today , Nov. 14, 21, 28, and Dec. 5 and 12 at 154 Beach City Road. Details on information to bring: call 843-785-2849.
