For more than 30 years, St. Andrew By-the-Sea United Methodist Church on Hilton Head Island has hosted its Fall Festival fundraiser. This year's event kicks off at 10 a.m. Nov. 7 at 20 Pope Ave. on Hilton Head.

Food, music and shopping are among the activities inside the celebration center building and on the church grounds.

Gifts and needlework will be available and favorites such as baked goods, the garden shop, collectibles and a broad range of gently used items such as books, household items, baby and children's toys and clothing, sporting goods, and "Odds and Olds" will be offered.

The silent auction offers special items for bid such as artwork, golf and tennis packages, dinners at area restaurants, professional services, admission to local events and vacation resort packages. The auction will close at 1 p.m. to allow bidders time to claim their purchases before the festival ends at 2 p.m.

All proceeds support the church's outreach ministries.

SHELL POINT BAPTIST CHURCH

A Harvest Festival begins at 5:30 p.m. today at the church. Activities include games, contests, candy and prizes. The event is offered to children to have a safe Halloween evening. It is requested that children do not wear scary costumes.

CONGREGATION BETH YAM

A Torah study session begins at 10 a.m. today at Congregation Beth Yam. Donald Morris will lead a discussion group at 11 a.m. Sunday on relocating a Jewish Retirement Community in the path of Hurricane Katrina. The Chapel without Walls will join in this discussion.

ST. FRANCIS BY THE SEA CATHOLIC CHURCH

St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island will hold its annual Ministry Fair and Fellowship Sunday today and Sunday after all weekend Masses. Ministries of the parish will have information and representatives available. The parish will hold a candlelight service at 5 p.m. Monday in its columbarium behind the church honoring All Souls.

The Youth Choir of Orange Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its 38th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday. Youth choirs from various churches have been invited to celebrate.

RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CHURCH

Resurrection Christian Community Church will hold its first service in its new location at 10 a.m. Sunday in The Visual and Performing Arts Center at Hilton Head Island High School. Senior Pastor Len Stubbs will begin a new teaching series, "Is Jesus In the House?"

Holy Communion is celebrated at worship every week.

A special time of coffee and fellowship will precede worship at 9:30 a.m. at the new church building. Services are at 10 a.m. Sundays at the center on Hilton Head Island.

THE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP OF BEAUFORT

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Beaufort celebrates its 10-year anniversary with services at 11 a.m. Sunday at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort.

The Rev. Nan White will preach on "Standing on the Side of Love," and the choir will sing. Special music before and after the service will feature guitarist/singer Eric Daubert.

YMCA PRAYER BREAKFAST

Reservations are being accepted for the Beaufort County second annual Community-Wide Prayer Breakfast at 7 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church on North Street in Beaufort.

The event is sponsored by the Wardle Family YMCA and hosted by the First Presbyterian Church. Admission is free. The Rev. Jeffrey S. Miller, rector of The Parish Church of St. Helena, will speak. All Beaufort County residents are welcome. Reservations are required.

CARTERET STREET METHODIST

The Carteret Street Methodist Men's annual shrimp boil is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church on Carteret Street in Beaufort.

The meal consists of boiled shrimp, baked beans, cole slaw, roll, brownie and tea. Meals may be eaten at the church or taken out. Free delivery is provided for the lunches. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children younger than 12.

ST. GREGORY THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH

Rory Cooney, the internationally acclaimed Christian composer and author, will present a day of prayer, education and music Friday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton.

A renowned liturgist and contemporary Christian composer, Cooney will begin with a sung morning prayer at 9:30 a.m., followed by a workshop on "The Ministry of Singing and the Uniqueness of the Eucharist." Following a box lunch on church grounds, Cooney will present a music showcase at 2 p.m. with new music from Oregon Catholic Press, GIA Publications and World Library Publications.

At 3 p.m., a roundtable discussion on upcoming changes to the Roman Missal and what that means to music ministries is planned. The day will end with a concert by Cooney, with an appearance by the St. Gregory Festival Chorus and the children's Jubilate Schola.

Cost for the day is $10 a person, or $25 a parish for unlimited participation.

GRACE CHAPEL AME CHURCH

Grace Chapel AME Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 7. Participants can learn more about breast cancer and diabetes. Lunch will be provided. Free child care is available.

BEAUFORT AGLOW COMMUNITY

Beaufort Aglow meets at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Port Royal Medical Center, in the second floor conference room, 1320 Ribaut Road in Port Royal.

Minister Jeanette Thompson of Yemassee, a retired teacher, will speak. She is a member of and the church mother of the Family Worship Center in Yemassee. Jeanette Harley is her pastor and overseer.

CONCERT FOR CARAE'S

Scott Gibbs will offer a concert at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 907 Craven St. in Beaufort. The concert will benefit Carae's Lowcountry Modeling Scholarship Fund. Admission is $15 a person. A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.

ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH

The St. Peter's Catholic Church yard sale is from 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 7 at Lady's Island Commons parking lot (in front of the law office of Quindlen and Merrifield). Money raised benefits the seventh- and eighth-grade March 2010 class trip to Washington, D.C.

LOWCOUNTRY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The Georgians will be in concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. The church's Hospitality Ministry will provide refreshments during the intermission. The Georgians will perform a few songs at both the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. morning worship services Nov. 8. Anyone may attend the concert and/or worship service.

ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH

John Rutter's "Requiem" and a Service of Remembrance with Extended Prelude begins at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at All Saints Episcopal Church on Hilton Head Island.

All Saints' organist, choir and a six-piece orchestra will perform. The program will be followed by a reception in the parish hall. The event is free, but a free will offering will be taken.
