As an American whose mother happens to be Canadian and lives in Canada, I will share her experiences with this system over the past four years.
My mother, Margaret, waited three weeks for cataract eye lens replacement. She was 95 years old at the time. At the age of 97, she waited two weeks for carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists. At the age of 99, she received surgery for a new hip after waiting only three weeks. My mother received excellent care following surgery, along with very good home care and help during recovery. She has made a full recovery and still lives alone.
Apparently, the wait times in Canada were not unbearable for my mother, and I believe that Canada is looking after their elderly.
