Hilton Head invites public to two meetings Thursday on comp plan
Two meetings on Thursday will help chart the future of Hilton Head Island for the next 20 years.
The meetings will include a formal presentation and facilitated discussion about the town's comprehensive plan.
The town is required by state law to periodically update and rewrite the plan, floodplain administrator Trudie Johnson said. Work on the latest update has been under way for about eight to nine months, she said.
So far, the town has interviewed more than 100 people, gathered more than 500 responses to a community assessment survey, and collected input from more than 200 residents during a series of neighborhood meetings, according to a news release.
At Thursday's meetings, the Comp Plan Committee of the Planning Commission will present a summary of broad strategies developed in four subjects: community facilities, recreation, transportation and priority investment.
An updated draft of the Hazard Mitigation Plan will be presented at each meeting.
The meetings are:
• 10 a.m., Council Chambers at Town Hall
• 6 p.m., Hilton Head Island Public Library
