A rough day at Coosaw Creek Country Club left the USC Beaufort women's golf team in 11th place among 15 teams after the first day of the Wendy's Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern University.

The Sand Sharks posted a team score of 332 on Monday, putting them 34 shots behind leader College of Charleston. Adriana Saavedra led USCB with an 8-over-par 79, which puts her in a tie for 21st. Charleston Southern's Olivia Jordan-Higgins posted the day's best score, a 1-under-par 70.

"To use an old golf adage, we left a lot out there today, but we're going to pick them up tomorrow," USCB assistant coach Chris Cuneo said. "We can pick up 10 shots tomorrrow, which I would be pleased with."

The Sand Sharks begin the final round at 7:45 a.m. today.
