DeAnte Scott set Hilton Head Prep's single-season record for receptions, hauling in nine passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Dolphins to their first win of the season, 42-0 over Charleston Collegiate on Friday.

With Matt Layman's season over because of a broken leg, Jeremy Haidon stepped in at quarterback in Charleston and filled in quite nicely. Haidon, a freshman, was 15-for-21 passing for 261 yards, three scores and one interception.

Matt Bex provided help on both sides of the ball, rushing for 32 yards and a pair of scores and also returning an interception for a touchdown.

Taylor Place came up with a pair of interceptions for the Dolphins (1-6).

Hilton Head Prep plays at Thomas Heyward Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

THOMAS HEYWARD 57, FIRST BAPTIST 0

The Rebels pounded First Baptist with a relentless ground attack to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in SCISAA Region 2-AA.

Ryan Day led Thomas Heyward with 94 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Logan Mock -- who also had a 65-yard kickoff return for a score -- added 65 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jeremy Tuten chipped in 62 yards on four carries, and Hayden Daley and Corey Tuten each scored rushing touchdowns. Corey Tuten also caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from his brother J.D. Tuten.

RIDGELAND 30, PELION 23

Torray Amlett ran for two touchdowns -- including an 81-yarder in the first quarter -- and Brent Walker helped the Jaguars salt the game away with a 40-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter as Ridgeland improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Region 5-AA.

Pelion scored rushing touchdowns in the first and second quarters before taking the lead, 17-14, on a field goal in the third quarter. Amlett's 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter put Ridgeland ahead to stay.

The Panthers scored on a long run with under seven minutes remaining in the game to pull within 30-23, but would get no closer.

Jerry Scott opened the scoring for Ridgeland with an 85-yard kickoff return and a two-point conversion to start the game.

Ridgeland travels to Wade Hampton on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

ST. JOHN'S 14, HARDEEVILLE 6

Jarrell Knighton scored the Hurricanes' only touchdown of the game, as Hardeeville fell to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Region 6-A.

Hardeeville plays at Baptist Hill at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
