AGM Imports, which provides granite and stone to the home-building

industry, recently completed a $6 million distribution facility in Hardeeville, which is expected to generate 15 jobs.

The company hopes to begin hiring in the next two months.

The facility will be a sales center and serve the company's showrooms in Charleston, Charlotte and Atlanta.

"Jasper County is the right fit for our company, providing a positive business environment and strong workforce," chief financial officer Douglas Smith said in a news release. "We appreciate the support we've received from state and local officials."

Hardeeville Mayor Bronco Bostick said the announcement will be the first of many in a "new era" for the U.S. 17 corridor. The city is promoting the area as a potential home for businesses related to a proposed port on the Jasper County side of the Savannah River.
