AARP to offer driver safety classes
An AARP driver safety course is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at The Seabrook of Hilton Head Island, 300 Woodhaven Drive.
Completion of the course might qualify participants for automobile premium discounts.
The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.

TCL offers cake-decorating class
The Technical College of the Lowcountry division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will present an eight-week cake-decorating class starting in October.
The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Oct. 5 through Dec. 3, in Room 104 of Building 12 at the Beaufort campus, 921 Ribaut Road. Cost: $320.

Chili Cookoff scheduled Oct. 10
The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island will hold the 25th anniversary Chili Cookoff on Oct. 10.
This year's event is from noon to 4 p.m. at Honey Horn.
Tickets are available in advance for $10 from the Coastal Discovery Museum, the Internet Cafe at Coligny, Burke's Pharmacy and any Kiwanis member. Corporate sponsorships are $200 and include 20 tickets. Proceeds benefit various Beaufort County charities.

Beaufort crash hospitalizes driver
The Burton Fire District responded to a three-car crash Saturday that sent one person to the hospital Saturday.
Firefighters were called to Robert Smalls Parkway in front of Beaufort's Walmart store at about 5 p.m. after reports of an overturned car, said Lt. Chris Moyer, fire district spokesman.
Moyer said one driver was taken by ambulance to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
