Hilton Head honors citizens of the month

Four Hilton Head Islanders were treated to dinner this week by Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks after being named "Citizens of the Month" by Mayor Tom Peeples.

The quarterly dinner was held Monday.

George and Marianne Krall were honored for their contributions to many local nonprofit organizations. After moving to Hilton Head Island a decade ago, they founded the Long Cove Foundation, which raises money for charity.

George Krall is a board member for the Hilton Head Symphony. Marianne Krall is a board member of The Deep Well Project and volunteers for Alzheimer's Respite and Resource.

Jim Collett just finished a stint as chairman of the town's Board of Zoning Appeals, which renders decisions about sometimes controversial development plans. He ispresident of the Hilton Head Plantation Property Owner's Association and is a member of the Rotary Club and the Greater Island Council. He and his wife, Marcia, have lived on Hilton Head since 2000.

Richard Geraghty is a Hospice volunteer and president of the Hilton Head Island Republican Club. He volunteers at both the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament and the annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, in addition to driving people around for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. He and his wife, Peggy, have lived on the island for six years.
