The government now owns 60 percent of General Motors, a company that lost $31 billion in 2008, on top of a $38.7 billion loss in 2007. We, the taxpayers, will be making up that loss.
School teachers with college degrees earning $30 per hour will be subsidizing UAW workers, many without college degrees, making $71 per hour in pay and benefits. Do you suppose that's to get labor union votes?
Why is the American auto industry not competitive? Could it be bloated union salaries?
The government wants to do away with secret ballots when employees vote for or against joining a union. How does that help the American people?
Secret ballots allow people to vote their own conscience without fear of retribution. In the past, those voting against unions were harassed and punished. In some cases, their families were intimidated .
Open voting was outlawed because it does not benefit the public. But it draws union votes. Polls have shown Americans are overwhelmingly against open voting. Why are they trying to jam it down our throats? You know the answer to that.
