Janeth Haslam and Alexander “Sandy” Turnbull were married May 16, in the First Congregational Church of Marion, Mass. A reception followed at the Beverly Yacht Club.
The couple are widow and widower and have followed careers in the east and midwest.
Currently, Mrs. Turnbull splits her time between residences in Bluffton, and Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Mr. Turnbull divides time between residences in Marion and Hilton Head Island.
Both think that they have “too many houses and too much stuff.”
Mrs. Turnbull graduated from Katharine Gibbs School in New York City, the University of Maine in Augusta, and the University of Southern Maine. She was employed by the predecessor companies to Exxon-Mobil in New York City and Houston, and is retired from Maine Yankee in Wiscasset, Maine. Mr. Turnbull graduated from the University of Maryland and earned an M.B.A. from Xavier University. He is retired from Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc.
The bride and groom met while bicycling with the Kickin’ Asphalt Bicycle Club on Hilton Head. They fell in love as they found they also shared a passion for sailing and cooking and that each was crazy about dogs. Mr. Turnbull also has a cat. They honeymooned in Newport, R.I., then will spend the summer sailing and bicycling the New England coast and its islands.
They will live in Marion, on Hilton Head and in their cabin in Boothbay Harbor.
