Two Hilton Head Island men were arrested Wednesday after they attempted to pawn several items that had been stolen from an island home hours earlier, a Sheriff's Office news release said.

Henry Garnes, 25, and Donald Anderson, 22, were arrested after Beaufort police were called at about 3:30 p.m. to break up a fight between the two men at the Pawn & Exchange Shop at 2507 Boundary St. The men began fighting in the parking lot after they could not hock the items because neither could provide identification.

When police arrived, Garnes tried to run away but was caught after a short foot chase.

Police realized the camera and laptop computer the two wanted to pawn had been taken during a home burglary on Hilton Head a few hours earlier, the release said.

Garnes was charged with fleeing to evade arrest, resisting arrest, second-degree burglary and grand larceny and was being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $27,185 bond.

Anderson was charged with grand larceny and second-degree burglary and was being held on a $75,000 bond.
