McGill, Mitchell wed
Maggie Catherine McGill and William Cecil Mitchell III, both of Beaufort, were married at 5 p.m. June 6, 2009 at the Old Sheldon Church Ruins.
The Rev. Dr. Frank Sells and the Rev. Andrew Pearson performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jack M. McGill Jr., of Beaufort. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Cecil Mitchell Jr., of Beaufort. Given in marriage by her father, Dr. Jack M. McGill Jr., the bride wore a one-of-a-kind couture gown designed and sewn by Caroline Hincher Baker of Maude Couture. The gown was made of head to toe French Alencon lace. The bride also wore her mother’s cathedral-length veil outlined with lace and carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, peonies, tulips, gardenias, lilacs, green vibernum and orange ranunculus.
Maid of honor was Aaryne Michelle Elias, of Charleston. Bridesmaids were: Meredith Evelyn Mitchell, sister of groom, of Beaufort; Rebecca Lee Blacher, Christin Michelle Leonard and Lauren Perrill Small, all of Charleston; Lecian Suzanne Henry and Chelsey Megan Thames, cousin of bride, both of Beaufort, and Erica Gail Wooldridge, of Columbia.
Flower girls were Sage Mason Posey, niece of the bride, and Hannah Nancy Lees.
The groom’s father, William Cecil Mitchell Jr., of Beaufort served as best man. Groomsmen were: Jack Milton McGill III, brother of bride, of Yemassee; Kelly Tiner Adams, brother-in-law of groom, Patrick Gates Mitchell, brother of groom, and Henry Caleb Sauls, all of Beaufort; Colin Naylor MacGuire, of Orlando, Fla.; William Curtis Small, of Charleston; and Michael Fondre Spisso, of Charlotte, N.C.
Ring bearer was Wyatt Nathaniel Altman, cousin of the bride.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Carolyn Monson and the late Mr. Eric Monson Jr., of Beaufort, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. McGill, of Rock Hill. She graduated from Beaufort High School in 2001 and graduated from University of South Carolina in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is employed as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and is currently enrolled at MUSC in the Family Nurse Practitioner program to receive her Master’s of Science in Nursing.
The groom is a grandson of Mrs. Evelyn Murdaugh Mitchell and the late Mr. William Cecil Mitchell, of Beaufort, and the late Col. and Mrs. Albert Henry Hislop. He graduated from Beaufort Academy in 1999 and graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and minored in Business. He is employed with Mitchell Brothers, Inc.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Oaks Plantation. The couple will honeymoon at Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos. They will reside in Beaufort.
