Herb King, a Hilton Head Island developer who was burned in a fire last week, will remain in a medically induced coma for one to three months, according to a blog created to give updates on his condition.

King, 57, was burned on over 90 percent of his body Tuesday while fueling a fire pit near his home, police said. He was airlifted to Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga., where he has remained.

The blog, created by friends, said King had been through several surgeries to remove dead skin, and his vital signs remained stable through the procedures.

He will remain in a coma while his body heals, the blog said.

King is the owner of Principal Developers. He has been a Realtor and developer in the Hilton Head area for 30 years.

The blog on King's condition is at www.carepages.com; search for keyword herbofhhi.
