Renovations at Tanger 1 take step forward

The Beaufort County Council signaled its strong support Monday night for renovation plans for Tanger Outlet Center 1 in Bluffton.

The council unanimously approved a development agreement for the property in the first of three required readings.

As part of negotiations, Tanger agreed to donate 2.3 acres for a future section of Bluffton Parkway, improve the site's stormwater drainage system and give the county about $87,000 for school construction. In return, Tanger would increase the size of its existing shopping center by about 30,000 square feet.
