Sanford appoints Tom Davis to SC Military Base Task Force

State Sen. Tom Davis, R-Beaufort, has been appointed by Gov. Mark Sanford to be the Senate's representative on the 27-member S.C. Military Base Task Force.

That group was created in 2006 to limit encroachment on the state's bases, improve the military quality of life in the state and encourage defense-related economic development.

Other members of the task force include Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling, Beaufort County Council Chairman Weston Newton, Port Royal Mayor Samuel Murray and Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Carlotta Ungaro.
