Two hearing aids were among the items stolen during a string of car break-ins on Hilton Head Island since New Year's Day, according to Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reports released Tuesday.

The reports show that deputies currently are investigating 11 car break-ins during that time period. Many of them occurred in pockets across the island, predominantly tourist areas, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cpl. Robin McIntosh.
