Shortly before dusk, Santa arrived led by a parade of area school children and took a seat at the Santa Station to have his picture taken with children.
At dusk, Hilton Head Island Mayor Tom Peeples and his wife Mary Ann flipped the switch on the town’s 35-foot Christmas tree, lighting some 3,000 lights .
